2GB limit with DLNA streaming

Hi, I noticed I only can stream videofiles over DLNA which are not larger than 2GB. I read this has something to do with a setting of samba. How can I change this in OpenHDF so I also can stream larger files > 2GB?

You must changed this at your dlna server and not inside the box.
If you have dlna server installed at your box, you can found the smb.conf under /etc/samba/.

Thanks Koivo. Yes, I use the Enigma2 box as DLNA server and found the smb.conf file under /etc/samba/
Which setting do I have to add to get support for larger files > 2 GB?

Are you using minidlna as DLNA server? I don't think it has anything to do at all with samba configuration, at least I am not aware of any dependency of DLNA and samba.

What are you using as DLNA client? Maybe the problem lies on the DLNA client side?

Have you configured logging of minidlna (inside /etc/minidlna.conf)? Maybe there is something helpful inside the log.

@buers: I tried miniDLNA and MediaTomb as DLNA server. My DLNA client is Humax iHDR-5200c. People reported this one should accept 4GB files max. for MP4, but I can play 2GB max.
As workaround I now split those files in chunks of 2GB, but what could be the problem?
If I use an USB stick on the Humax I don't have problems. Maybe MediaTomb has a setting to force to communicate in some way it will accept larger files?

First : miniDLNA, MediaTomb and Xupnpd Servers have nothing to do with Samba !!
They use file access via the host´s filesystems.
Example : they work without installed Samba.
Samba is only for providing network file access from especially Windows systems and also Linux systems.
Where in case of Linux only systems the always better way ist to use NFS.
A simple way to check the DLNA server is: using VLC on PC as DLNA client ( e.g. the Version Weather Wax ).
This works fine and has no limitations when running miniDLNA on my STB´s without installed Samba.

I think the problem is Humax.....

Yes, I think you're right about the Humax is the problem as I tried another device and it works without problems.
Why doesn't it work on Humax? That's interesting to know.
When I use an USB stick on Humax with this larger file it also does play, but not with DLNA.

It's a bad implemented dlna protokoll by humax.

@Koivo: there was a problem with the Humax, but I fixed it changing the location of the header in the MP4 file.
Probably the Humax has too little memory for loading the header to stream files larger >2GB with DLNA, but with this fix I don't have this problem anymore!
