Twin CI+ module in Dreambox 7020HD

    • Twin CI+ module in Dreambox 7020HD

      Hello,

First of all: thank you for OpenHDF 5.5. I use it with pleasure.

I do have one bugreport and one suggestion and I hope you guys can help me.

      1. I have a Dreambox 7020HD with two DVB-C/T combi tuners and two CI+ modules from UPC. Both tuners and CI+ modules do work, but when I record one scrambled TV channel, I cannot view another scrambled channel, although there's an available CI+ module and they both are recognized sucessfully. I think this is a bug. Could you please add support for two CI+ modules? Thank you!

      2. I use MediaTomb as DLNA server on my Dreambox 7020HD which works perfectly, but as my TV only accepts .TS or .MP4 files with DLNA, I would like to suggest to support this as well. TS files are already supported with recordings, but the DLNA URL should be pointed to a TS file to get it work on my TV. It should like the same as an IPTV URL, so the Dreambox URL must be look like this:

      Current format:

      192.168.0.135:8001/1:0:19:4BC9:832:600:FFFF0000:0:0:0:

      Alternative format:
      192.168.0.135:8001/1:0:19:4BC9:832:600:FFFF0000:0:0:0.TS

      Thank you!

      Regards,
      Retrofan
    • If i undertand this right ... he want to use 2 CI+ modules in the Dreambox.
Do have this box 2 CI Slots?

    • @Hans: thanks for your reply, but when I assign some channels to the CI+ module in slot 1 and some other channels to the CI+ module in slot 2, it works as long as not the same channels are assigned to both CI+ modules. Maybe the Dreambox is then somewhat confused what to do.
So, actually it's possible to record one scrambled TV channel and watch another scrambled TV channel.
However, when I assign the CAID instead to both modules it doesn't work anymore.
As workaround right now I assign the HD channels to slot 1 and the SD channels to slot 2.
But what I really want is to assign the CI+ module in slot 1 to tuner A (DVB-C) and the CI+ module in slot 2 to tuner B (DVB-C) or if the Dreambox detects one CI+ module is used, searching for the second CI+ module which is free to use.

Can you guys implement this? Thanks!

@Koivo: yes, that's right. I do have two identical CI+ modules (different smartcards ofcourse) and the Dreambox DM7020HD has two CI slots. I want to use both CI+ modules each tuner (A and B).

    • And what about my second question? Is there also an URL available in the current build of OpenHDF to redirect to a virtual TS stream of a TV channel? My TV with DLNA expects a filename with TS or MP4 and does check this.
As the Dreambox can record to TS, I guess this also should be possible to implement. My other video files are played without troubles from Dreambox to TV. Thanks!

    • I don't fully understand it.
My receiver has two CI slots. I know each CI+ module (version 1.2) can descramble only one channel at the same time, but as I have two of them, it must be possible to descramble 2 channels at the same time, right?

      So
      tuner A uses CI+ module nr. 1 (slot 1)
      and
      tuner B uses CI+ module nr. 2 (slot 2)

Is this also not possible? It would be nice if I can assign module 1 to tuner A and module 2 to tuner B.

      I use only one ci+

No matter what todo with 2
Because you can use CI-Assignment only for one

As workaround I use the CI-Assignment for HD channels on the first CI+ module and the SD channels to the second CI+ module. That also works for watching/recording at the same time of 2 scrambled channels, but ofcourse I prefer to watch and record HD channels only. Hope you guys can do an update for this issue in openHDF...
    • @hans or @Koivo: I still don't have an answer from you guys if it's possible to assign tuner A (DVB-C) to CI+ module 1 in slot 1 and tuner B (DVB-C) to CI+ module 2 in slot 2. The CI+ modules are the same, but not the inserted smartcard ofcourse with different serialnumbers. I think this is easier than assigning HD/SD channels which I use right now as workaround.
    • Thanks Hans. So, this a restriction of CI+? Just one CI+ module allowed in a receiver, even if you had 4 tuners?
Anyway, then my workaround is a pretty solution if you want to descramble 2 channels at the same time... :)
      Have a nice day!
    • You can assign channels to CI slot 1 or CI slot 2 which I now do for HD and SD channels.

Maybe it's an idea to have a dynamic CI assignment which will assign a channel automatically to a CI+ module as soon as it needs to be descrambled?
So, if people tune into channel A which is scrambled it will be added to CI assignment for slot 1 by openHDF.
If a second channel is tuned and scrambled it will be added to CI assignment for slot 2.
A third scrambled channel will be added to CI assignment for slot 1 again (previous channel setting is removed) and so on....
This way users don't need to do this manually and 2 CI+ modules can be used this way as every channel exits only once for assignment.

You could call this "Dynamic CI assignment" in OpenHDF which can be turned on or off with an option.
