The definition of a clone is a 100% copy of the original. No VU (nor ET for that matter) is such a copy: they are all own developments. And the drivers are also developed by those companies; the trick is to make the hardware + drivers E2-compatible. A clone has nothing to develop at all: they just copy the hardware and use the drivers that are made available.
